In earlier days, the place was a forest of Kadamba trees. In legend, a trader on his way had to stay here at a night. About midnight, he saw a fire ball splitting light, in the midst of which was a Shivalinga being worshipped by Devas and Rishis. The trader informed the Chola king of what he saw. The Chola king rushed to the spot, along with Kulasekhara Pandiyan, who was his guest then. They saw an old man walking there with a red sugarcane as his walking stick. He showed the king the place where the Shivalinga was hiding and disappeared in the form of a fire ball. When they looked in an easterly direction where the old man disappeared, they saw Lord Dhandayuthapani on a hill. In ecstasy, the kings built a temple for Lord Ekambareswara and a temple for Lord Dhandayuthapani, according to the history of the place.

அதற்கு மேல் கொடுக்கப்படும் தொகைக்கு 80G வரி விலக்கு சான்று வழங்கப்படும்.

New commercial buildings, repair of vehicles plying the Thiruveedi, construction of new vehicles, A new road leading to the hill, a parking lot, annadhanam hall, Thirumudi Nerthi loan complex, accommodation, wedding hall construction, construction of a deep pipe from the Pancha river and provision of drinking water over the hill, consecration of the Appa Amma Social and Relegious Welfare Trust and handing it over to the Hindu Endowments Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu for future welfare, We would like to inform you that the names of the people who donate Rs. 10000/- from the public will be engraved as an inscription for the public to see at the Appa Amma Social and Relegious Welfare Trust office. The donation of this group will be received as a donation from the public after getting the permission of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
For the amount given in excess of that, an 80G tax exemption certificate will be provided.
We request you to help our foundation by donating whatever you can for the charity work of the Appa Amma Community and Relegious Welfare Trust, such as food distribution, public service camps, lighting lamps in temples where lamps are not lit, and repairing vehicles that come to the temple to roam around.
